2007-11-06 - 7:37 a.m.

It's gonna be one of those days. I can just tell.

First of all, our software program that we use to enter our time & attendance (called Cru-X) was recently updated and upgraded. As a result they merged it with this other software--- Citrix Metaframe. Anyway, now instead of 5 screens to get to where you want to go, you have to get through 7. Sheesh!

So anyway... we have a computer in the copy/fax room that's for general purpose and usage. Primarily, it's intent is to be available when a tech has to send off his laptop (also known as an MDT) for repairs, upgrades, etc. This way they can still access websites such as Cru-X, Employee Express, and SAL just to name a few. Well, I was helping Sammy yesterday with his Cru-X (log-in names changed over the weekend due to a merge; we used to be the Southern Region now we're the Easter Service Area which extends as far north as Maine and as south as Puerto Rico) and we realized that the "new" program was not repsonding. We tried and tried. We even tried downloading the suggested file to no avail.

So, I get on the phone to our IT support specialist, Ed. I explain the situation and he says that he's going to email me the file. I see it in my box at the end of the day and decide I'd wait until morning to mess with it. Realizing that I'd need to get the file from my computer to the one in the copy/fax room, I asked Kraig if he had a jump drive I could borrow. He says "sure" and off I go. In the meantime, Kraig & Gil try to work on the computer to see if they can get it work before I install the file from Ed.

No such luck. I transfer the file from my harddrive to the jump drive and then Kraig proceeds to do the install. Nope. Still not working. I get back on the phone with Ed and his whole attitude is that he can't get up here for awhile (he's in Miami), etc. I tell him that I understand that and just as long as we get the program to work sometime in the near future and that doesn't mean this week. Then he starts going into a spiel involving lots of technical mumbo-jumbo that's like 6 stories over my head and is irrelevant as far as I'm concern.

Finally Ed says, "I'll keep it in mind." I took that as: "When I get the f*** around to it, I'll do it." Which, by the way, I thought was pretty shitty. It's not OUR fault that the higher-ups in Atlanta and beyond decided to merge a bunch of the regions into one and therefore changed the software and its applications.

~THEN~ if that weren't enough to start the day off (before 7:30, mind you!) I hear Frick & Frack bitchin' about their lack of money. Frick says she doesn't have enough money to fix her broken tooth. Frack snips back with, "I don't have enough money to put food on the table." Frick says, "Well, I can't afford to go out to lunch for the boss' birthday."

Aaaaarrrgh! All these women do is bitch about how much money they DON'T have. Now, I realize that one of them is on a secretary's salary but at the same time, she has been in the agency for SEVENTEEN years so she's not doing that poorly. She's also owned her house for about that long. And while I do happen to have a second income (Ben's) we also have a brand-new 'house', HOA fees, and just a shit-ton of bills. However, you don't hear me complaining about it!

I mean, who wants to be around a sourpuss all the time? I sure don't. I know everyone struggles financially these days but it doesn't have to be the topic of conversation 24/7!!

Calgon, take me away... or someone kidnap me.. either way, I need to be RESCUED from this negativity!!!!!!

AAAaaaaaaaacccckkkk!!

(will someone pass me a vodka tonic?!?)

Until next time...peace, love & HEALTH!!!
