Random musings....

A pet peeve of mine here at work is the way in which we are required to handle any issue whatsoever that is related to IT. (what does that stand for anyway? Sis?) For example, if one of the printers acts up, instead of calling the office in Miami where our IT specialists are located we have to call this 1-800 number, wait for 1 minute and 23 seconds worth of menus, describe the problem to the phone rep, s/he writes up a trouble ticket, sends this electronically to the IT guys in Miami and then they call me to find out what's going on. Silly, huh? Welcome To The Government!

Or, as the Great Art would say: "Gub'ment" (I think that's how he does it.)

Anywho...

Watched an episode of Nanny 911 while I jogged on the treadmill this morning. I felt so bad for this poor woman. She had FIVE boys... but only 2 pregnancies. Yep, she had triplets first and twins second. Holy crap, Batman!!

It's amazing how a 3rd party can come into your life, make some pointed observations that really hit home, and give corrective suggestions that really work. It's also unbelievable to me that so many parents do not realize that THEIR own behavior directly affects the child(ren) and their behavior as well. This particular family were a group of screamers. Mom & Dad constantly screamed at the kids and wondered why the kids screamed at each other and screamed back at the parents.

Does anyone know how to clone people? I really would like to help out my husband and clone him. See, if he could have a Work Clone and a Home Clone ("E.T. clone home?!?" har har) then he wouldn't get so run down. Poor guy has had 12 hours of sleep in the last three days. Two nights he was up studying and completing his Calculus exam. Last night, he had to go back in to work at 8pm and came home just after midnight. I am definitely ordering up some serious snooze time for him tonight!

Why are some people so adverse to DOING THEIR JOB?? Basically, someone at work was sat down in the manager's office yesterday and was told that he (employee)would be given a training plan and utilized accordingly as a viable part of our organization. Keep in mind that this guy has been allowed to slide for the last 11yrs. He is disabled (his leg) but he can certainly perform admin type things. He got all pissed off yesterday and vented to Ben. Well, my husband being the diplomat that he can be (which is infuriating at times, lemme tell ya!) tried to explain to this guy that it's most likely not the new manager that's trying to be mean, but upper level supervisors putting the heat on HIM (manager) to finally do something about it. This same employee has been in the agency for 25+ years and makes THE most money out of all of us. This morning, he came up to my desk and whispered while pointing toward the manager's office, "You'd better watch this guy!"

The new manager may institute a lot of changes that I may not like, but ultimately what can I do? It's my job and I have to do what I'm told. Bottom line.

So there ya have it folks... a little of this, a little of that! Hope you enjoyed the ride!

Until next time...peace, love & HEALTH!!!
