Guess what? It's still COLD in Michigan! Imagine that.

Anyway, yesterday was a workday around here. Everyone pitched in and helped to clear out Ben's grandpa's barn. It has to be cleaned out so that it can be used for storage.

You see, a lot of Ben's aunts, uncles and a few adult cousins live up here. The tax collector paid a visit awhile ago and stated that the trailers they had been using as storage facilities either had to go OR they could opt to pay $1000 a piece to continue using them as such. Anyhow, so Grandpa thought it was FINALLY time to get rid of the 30+ years worth of stuff that has been accumalating in his barn and use it to house his children's belongings. The barn is already legally taxed and doing this would save everyone thousands of dollars.

It was a long and dirty job yesterday. I was in charge of the two burn barrels. I burned lots of rotted wood as well as old rope and toys. Meanwhile everyone else (especially Ben, his brother, Ernie and cousins Jason & Robert) loaded the flatbed trailer full of old steel, etc. Then they hauled it to the local dump where they were paid by weight for the various metals, etc. So far they've made well over $300 by doing so. This money is going to be used to pay this year's taxes on Grandpa's 80 acres of land.
