Ok, first I have to put in a misdemeanor... no, wait. That's not the word. Disclaimer. Sheesh! This is why I have to add a disclaimer; I'm very tired and my brain is not fully functional as of yet.

Having said that, time to get to the juicy stuff. So, most of you know about the problems we've continued to have with our little fridge. It is not completely broken, but it is not cooling properly and therefore several of our food products are spoiling at a rapid rate.

Whereas the temperature is supposed to be in the 30 degree Fahrenheit area, ours is in the mid 40's. Not good. So, we researched fridges. Those that are particularly made for RV's are very expensive. We couldn't find one for less than $1,250. The reason for the cost is that they run off both electric and gas. This is important so that when you are travelling or if you lose power, your fridge will still work. The RV is equipped with 2 eight gallon propane tanks. The RV also has a battery of it's own that the lights can work off of incase of power loss. (There is also a radio in the RV that runs off the battery if we lose power...pretty neat, huh?!?)

Anyway, so all day Friday Ben and I spent nearly 12 hours looking at friges. Small fridges, big fridges. We were torn. The smaller fridges (they were a little bigger than the existing fridge in the RV) were $359 before taxes. The larger "house" sized fridges were $474 - $500. The benefit to getting a larger fridge would be that it would be frost-free. The downside is that it would be completely electric so if we lose power, we'd have to keep the fridge shut just like as if we were in a house.

But, cost effectiveness... paying $140 more for a bigger fridge means getting triple the amount of space in both the fridge area and the freezer area.

So, a large fridge it is. The one we're going to get is a GE model and we're buying it this weekend. We're picking out the one that is the bisque color. For those of you unfamiliar with applaince colors, bisque or biscuit is another word for off-white. It is NOT the almond color that most people think is so dingy looking. And it most certainly is no where near the popular 70's color of Harvest Gold. Ewww! What were they thinking back then? Of course, the Avocado Green was way worse....

...my first apartment had avocado green appliances. Even the sink, toilet and tub in the bathroom were avocado green. ICK! But, I digress....

So, wish us luck that we have a smooth transition (sp?) this weekend taking out the RV fridge and adding the "house" sized fridge.

Happy Fridgerating! ;-)
