No matter what you do, ya just never know....

Yesterday morning, Ben and I went to the clubhouse gym at our regular time: 3:15am. Driving down our street, we saw this woman sitting in her green SUV parked on the "wrong" side of the street (the buildings that face ours) with her headlights on and pointing to the building that faces perpendicularly to the two buildings on our street.

We both thought it was very peculiar but didn't waste much time thinking about it overall. We continued on to the gym. We did our workout and drove back to our building. (The clubhouse gym is in our community and while it's not too far to walk, we feel it's safer to drive at that time in the morning.)

Driving back to our house, the woman was still there. Again, we thought it was weird but continued on our way. We pulled into our driveway, went inside and proceeded to get ready for work. At 5:30am we headed out the door and drove down our street. This time, the SUV was there but it was facing a different direction, the lights were out and the woman was no where to be seen. We exit the gates of our community and noticed a police officer on the opposite side of the building that the woman had her headlights pointing towards earlier. The only thing we found unusual about this scenario is that the cop looked really pissed about something. We weren't shocked to see the cop because there are at least (and I am not exaggerating) FIFTEEN police officers who live in our community. On our block alone, we have 3 or 4; one of which lives directly across from us. Granted, each of the cops work in the different communities, but still... there are a lot of cops who L I V E in our neighborhood.

Ben and I go to work and 10 and a half hours later, we head home. As we're making the left onto our street, we noticed a Channel 7 news van with its satellite elevated on the street that intersects ours. Ben jokingly turns to me and says: "Maybe that woman whacked someone!"

I look at him and he says, "You want me to find out what's going on?" I said, "Please? You won't look so dorky if you ask!"

So he climbs out of the car which we had parked crookedly in the street and meanders over to the newswoman and her cameraman. He quickly returns to the car and says to me, "Something about a pot bust."

The first thing that goes through our minds is that the woman early this morning was trying to score some weed or maybe she was with a boyfriend who was trying to buy a dime bag.

Of course, like most nosey Americans, we decided to watch the 6 o'clock news to find out more. At approximately 6:40pm they ran the story....

(This next part is from our local newspaper's website)

Three people were arrested early Thursday after police seized 49 marijuana plants worth $200,000, officials said.

Jeffrey ______, 22, of Tamarac, and Ivan ______, 20, of Weston, were charged with possession and trafficking in marijuana, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

Elizabeth ________, 22, of Weston, was charged with marijuana possession, the Sheriff's Office said.

The three were booked into the county jail.

Authorities from the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the Sheriff's Office searched a two-story home at ____________.

They found extra air conditioners, fans, sun lamps, carbon dioxide producing propane devices, fake credit cards and about a dozen counterfeit $100 bills, the Sheriff's Office said.

NEVER IN MY WILDEST IMAGINATION did I think this would happen so close to home. Their condo/townhouse is literally 500' from mine! I mean, I could totally believe that someone in my neighborhood would be looking to buy a LITTLE bit of pot, but to be TRAFFICKING the stuff? GROWING IT?!?!?!? COUNTERFEITING?!?!?

It goes to show that no matter how "nice" of a neighborhood you live in, anything can happen. I definitely will not be so nave.

Until next time...peace, love & HEALTH!!!
